  • 6 drumsticks
  • ½ cup bottle gourd, chopped
  • ½ cup carrots, chopped
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 3 large garlic cloves, chopped
  • 1 inch piece of ginger, chopped
  • 1 tbsp fresh coriander, finely chopped
  • Juice of 1 lemon
  • 1 tsp salt
  • Black pepper powder as per taste
  • Black salt as per taste
  • 1 tbsp oil
  1. Rinse and pat dry the drumsticks on a kitchen towel.
  2. Cut and discard the hard ends of the drumsticks from top and bottom.
  3. Then cut each drumstick into 3-inch pieces and pull off the skins/threads with a sharp knife.
  4. Then take each 3-inch piece and cut it vertically into 2 halves.
  5. Heat oil in a pressure cooker pan; add garlic; sauté for half a minute.
  6. Add ginger; sauté for half a minute.
  7. Add onions; sauté for half a minute.
  8. Add carrots; sauté for half a minute.
  9. Add the drumsticks and mix.
  10. Add the bottle gourd and mix well; sauté for half a minute.
  11. Add 3 cups of water; cover the lid and pressure-cook for 2 whistles.
  12. Switch off the flame and open the lid as soon the pressure is completely released.
  13. Blend all the cooked vegetables with an electric hand blender and then add 1 cup water to the veggie mix.
  14. Heat a pan and lower the flame. Strain 1/3 quantity of the mix through a fine mesh sieve into the heated pan; using a ladle press the mix hard onto sieve and strain well. Discard the remains.
  15. Repeat this two more times until all the mix is sieved into the pan.
  16. Add regular salt, black salt and pepper as per taste.
  17. Simmer until it comes to a boil.
  18. Switch off the flame; Just before serving garnish with coriander and add lemon juice. Serve hot.
