Ingredients
- 6 drumsticks
- ½ cup bottle gourd, chopped
- ½ cup carrots, chopped
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 3 large garlic cloves, chopped
- 1 inch piece of ginger, chopped
- 1 tbsp fresh coriander, finely chopped
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 tsp salt
- Black pepper powder as per taste
- Black salt as per taste
- 1 tbsp oil
- Rinse and pat dry the drumsticks on a kitchen towel.
- Cut and discard the hard ends of the drumsticks from top and bottom.
- Then cut each drumstick into 3-inch pieces and pull off the skins/threads with a sharp knife.
- Then take each 3-inch piece and cut it vertically into 2 halves.
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker pan; add garlic; sauté for half a minute.
- Add ginger; sauté for half a minute.
- Add onions; sauté for half a minute.
- Add carrots; sauté for half a minute.
- Add the drumsticks and mix.
- Add the bottle gourd and mix well; sauté for half a minute.
- Add 3 cups of water; cover the lid and pressure-cook for 2 whistles.
- Switch off the flame and open the lid as soon the pressure is completely released.
- Blend all the cooked vegetables with an electric hand blender and then add 1 cup water to the veggie mix.
- Heat a pan and lower the flame. Strain 1/3 quantity of the mix through a fine mesh sieve into the heated pan; using a ladle press the mix hard onto sieve and strain well. Discard the remains.
- Repeat this two more times until all the mix is sieved into the pan.
- Add regular salt, black salt and pepper as per taste.
- Simmer until it comes to a boil.
- Switch off the flame; Just before serving garnish with coriander and add lemon juice. Serve hot.
